BIO

Degollado was born into the urban American,

Mexican, Mexican-American, Hispanic, Mestizo, Chicanx,

Latinx Indigenous-American experience. And living as a

mixed-blood and mixed-cultured idealist, she knows the magic

in dreaming, family, and the intricacies of moving across land and nations.

Using the backdrop of the "Street Art" experience, Degollado explores the many dimensions of public art, social energetics, knowledge exchange, and collaboration. Her involvement is rooted in urban engagement, utilizing public platforms and multimillion-dollar resources to establish meaning and enhance art for indigenous and disenfranchised communities.. She engages stakeholders, acknowledges outsiders and insiders, and remembers that collaborators foster a network where innovation flourishes. Degollado believes that we find our diligent selves through collaboration and mentorship, and acknowledges that art with consequence is the only art worth making.

Degollado graduated with an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Public Practice art under the leadership of Suzanne Lacy in May 2016. She earned a BA in Communication Theory and minored in Studio Art;  graduating Cume Laude from the University of Houston.
